Advocating for Men to Involve and Uplift Women.

Men have been urged to actively involve women in decision-making across various fields to foster positive societal changes, particularly in achieving gender equality. Mrs. Saum Bakari, the projects officer from Tanzania Development Information Organization (TADIO), emphasized this message during a special session on economic empowerment and gender equality held in the meeting hall of the municipality of Lindi City.

Saum highlighted the significant opportunity for community representatives to challenge outdated traditions and customs, emphasizing their role in promoting gender equality to combat moral erosion and enhance economic prospects for women.

Shaibu Mgoba the Acting Development Officer of Lindi Municipality, inaugurates a special session focused on women’s economic leadership and empowerment.

Kicking off the meeting, Mr. Shaibu Mgoba , the Acting Development Officer of Lindi, underscored its importance as a special gathering dedicated to shaping the future of the community by safeguarding gender equality and advancing economic empowerment.

The one-day session brought together a diverse group of participants, including religious leaders, development officers, traditional leaders, individuals with disabilities, the gender desk of the police, political leaders, and community welfare representatives.

TADIO, in collaboration with other non-governmental organizations, is actively involved in implementing the Women’s Leadership and Economic Rights (WLER) project. Supported by funding from UN Women, the project aims to inspire, educate, and engage the community in promoting meaningful participation of women, both with and without disabilities, in leadership roles and economic activities at the grassroots level.

The overarching goal of the collaborative effort is to bring about positive transformations in society by encouraging inclusive decision-making processes and supporting women’s rights, contributing to the overall progress towards gender equality and economic empowerment at the community level.
